An 80 million gamble... Reds throw the dice.
Reports from the transfer market suggest Manchester United is on the verge of signing Rasmus Hojlund from Atlanta for a fee hoveirng around the €80 milllion mark.
The forward from Denmark has made his name with his performance for Denmark and Atlanta in the last year. In the 32 appearances for Atlanta in the Seria A , he scored 9 goals and added 2 assists to that count. The 6 goals in a 4 match Euro qualifier campaign for Denmark just reinforced the fact that he might be chased by bigger clubs over this transfer window.
With PSG and Tottenham reproted to be among other clubs chasing his signature, it does seem that Manchester United might just get the deal over the line.
It might still be a big gamble for Erik Ten Haag, as Hojlund, who undoubtedly is extremely talent with all his speed , movement and control, might still be a bit raw and will need polishing. Manchester United are rebuilding and Ten Haag with a good eye for talent might just be able to produce a gem out of Hojlund.
Hojlund was worth €1.8m, when he moved from Denmark in early 2022. By the end of the year Atlanta paid €18 m and in another one year that seems to have trebled. Money seems to flowing around football, and the numbers going around are nothing like in the past.
Ten Haag has put his neck out and will hope Hojlund delivers.
